Citizens for Progressive Change

 

Mission: The mission of Citizens for Progressive Change is to implement the recommendations of Governor Jennifer M. Granholm's Benton Harbor Task Force. Implementation of these recommendations will occur through a proces of advocacy, eucation and collaboration.

Vision: The vision of CPC is to engage citizens in resolving economic, social and human service issues with the ultimate goal of improving the quality of life of Benton Harbor residents.

History: CPC is the grass-roots organization established as a result of the work of the Task Force selected by Governor Jennifer M. Granholm in June 2003. The Task Force represented by community residents, civic, business, faith and government leaders initiated an information gathering process to determine ways to improve the quality of life for Benton Harbor residents.

The results of their effort was an 85-page report of recommendations presented to Governor Granholm October 22, 2003. Based on the information contained in the report, themiission and immediate goals of CPC is to implement the recommendations through collaboration with local, state, and federal agencies by leveraging already existing resources on behalf of the residents in the Benton Harbor and Benton Township communities.
